Amy Gaglia Essletzbichler

Amy Gaglia is an accredited Dialectical Behaviour Therapist working as a DBT trainer and supervisor after moving from the UK to Vienna, Austria. She volunteers for the Society of DBT and is a member of the Board of Accredition.

She completed her MSW in New York in 2003 where she trained in DBT at New York Hospital. She was a founding member and team manager of the Newham DBT Team between 2003-2008. Together with that team she was intensively trained in DBT 2004 in Northampton, USA. Amy then spent a year in 2008-2009 establishing a DBT informed transitional living programme for people with severe and enduring mental illness in Philadelphia, PA, USA. She returned to the UK and continued to work with the Newham DBT team and trained as a DBT adherence rater in 2010. She helped the Newham team complete its RCT on DBT versus Treatment As Usual for Self Harm published in October 2012 and wrote a follow up article regarding dropout from DBT in the NHS. She worked in the London Borough of Hackney for two years as a cognitive therapist and offered DBT and RO-DBT to clients there. Finally, between 2014-2016, Amy worked as a DBT therapist in SLaM. Amy is experienced at working with a variety of populations and is trained in and has experience in delivering Family Connections and DBT-PE.
