Edward Craighead

W. Edward Craighead, Ph.D., ABPP, holds the J. Rex Fuqua Endowed Chair and is Professor and Vice-Chair of Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Programs in the Emory University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also a Professor of Psychology at Emory University. He has written/edited 11 books, including a widely used a graduate textbook, Psychopathology. He recently finished his term as Editor of Clinical Psychology: Science and Practice, and previously was Editor of Behavior Therapy. He is a Past-President of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies in the U.S. and the Clinical Division of the American Psychological Association. His publications include psychosocial aspects, prevention, and treatments of Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorders. His current research focuses on predictors of differential acute outcomes and maintenance of outcomes with CBT and Antidepressants for treatment of depression. He also collaborates on two international research projects evaluating programs aimed at preventing depression. NIH and Private Foundations support his research. In addition to his scholarly productivity, Dr. Craighead directs a Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Clinic with approximately 850 patients, and he sees adolescent and adult patients with a variety of disorders but primarily Major Depression and Bipolar Disorders.
